Speech Center assistance takes many forms, both for students and faculty. Career interviews, conference presentations, or broadcast appearances benefit from planning in a manner similar to preparation for senior thesis or capstone course defenses, group presentations, and reports of findings by faculty and student researchers. The key to all preparation is allowing enough time in advance for the kind of contemplation and practice you may decide you need.
Speaking-intensive courses across disciplines take advantage of the Speech Fellows Program to provide mentoring that is tailored to individual needs of class members. The Speech Fellow meets with each student several times during the semester, and uses the sequence of consultations to observe and encourage progress toward higher levels of speaking competence.
